There have apparently been 3223 one day international matches since that first hastily arranged match between Australia and England at Melbourne in 1970 to 71, and there have been numerous memorable batting blitzes along the way. One which still seems to stand out beyond the rest was Vivian Richards’s 189 not out for West Indies against England at Old Trafford on May 31, 1984.

IPL4 WINNERS:Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 4 final at MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on Saturday.Chennai are unchanged for the sixth game on the trot and Bangalore have also retained the eleven that beat Mumbai Indians on Friday. 

       Chennai are like that well-oiled unit that just doesn't stop. And they are up against Chris Gayle, who has taken RCB single-handedly to the final of IPL 4. There is always been an aura of uncertainty about Gayle, but it seems a thing of the past now. The West Indian is playing with a single minded determination to show the world that he is good enough for international cricket and the rivals are bearing the brunt. It happened to Mumbai Indians on Friday night and MS Dhoni knows that if Gayle gets going again on Saturday, their hopes of defending the title will vanish into thin air.

           He said the police got a tip off that a gang of known bookmakers was taking bets on the IPL in the liberty area and conducted the raid.'We recovered cash, mobile phones and many telephone numbers in India,' he said.He said the arrested persons, including Raza, have been lodged at the Gulberg station but not charged as yet.

       The 46-year-old, who played nine Tests and 49 one-day internationals for Pakistan, is presently on the Pakistan Cricket Board first class umpires panel and has supervised top matches.He was also named in the match-fixing scandal that first broke out in Pakistan cricket 16 years back and was later fined by the Justice Malik Qayyum inquiry commission into match-fixing in 2000.

               The Indian cricket board on Wednesday slapped a $50,000 fine on soon-to-retire bowling legend Shane Warne over a bust-up between the Australian and an official during this season IPL.The punishment casts a cloud over Warne last game of professional cricket on Friday when his Rajasthan Royals team take on the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.The leg spin maestro, captain of the Rajasthan team, was involved in an angry exchange with Sanjay Dixit, secretary of the Rajasthan state cricket association, following his team's defeat at home last week.

               Warne was furious about his team being asked to play on a different wicket than one used in previous games, but he later apologised for any distress his action may have caused.After a complaint by the Rajasthan cricket association, Warne and Dixit were summoned for a hearing before a disciplinary commission comprising IPL chairman Chirayu Amin and former player Ravi Shastri.

Gilchrist rolled back the years to produce a delightfully aggressive century and Marsh unfurled a gem of his own as the pair constructed the highest partnership in a Twenty20 game, 206 runs, to charge Kings XI Punjab to a massive 232 for 2. It will take some getting, even by a team that includes that man Chris Gayle.

        Bangalore's woes, though, were only to escalate from that moment as Marsh decided to weigh in with his own brand of aggression. He stamped his presence in the 15th over, looting 30 runs off Johan van der Wath. It went for 30 Runs as Marsh launched a stunning assault. Three fours sped to the extra-cover boundary, one six flew over midwicket, another sailed over long-off and the final six disappeared over the straight boundary.By the end it was difficult to keep count of the sixes as the scorecard kept racing ahead as though it was on steroids.

Indian Football Make Maradona to coach Dubai club...

         Maradona is to take over as coach next season, club vice-chairman Marwane Ben Bayatt said Monday.Maradona has been out of a coaching job since he led Argentina to a humiliating defeat in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when his team was defeated 4-0 by Germany.Since retiring as a player in 1997, Maradona has endured tax evasion and drug scandals. He is still widely considered one the greatest soccer players of all time. 

        Al Wasl is ranked fourth in the United Arab Emirates league. The squad has been without a permanent coach since Brazilian Sergio Farias was fired in April.
